Good Things Come To Those Who Book Flights

Hello All!

I haven't posted in way too long, and so much has happened since! During the week I am so busy running from place to place, that on the weekends I try to get together with my friends, do homework, or catch up on sleep! I haven't had much time to focus on my "Inner happiness", until I was coaching on Wednesday and was teaching the girls the 80's Dance Choreography (almost the entire practice)... and I realized I REALLY need to get back into taking classes! I knew that for awhile, but sometimes things just make so much more sense when you're not focusing on it, and kind of just stumble upon that feeling...

Which is the same feeling I got when I booked my flight to IRELAND!!!!

I've applied for a passport, booked my flight, and... booked a trip to Florence, Italy, Athens, and the Mykonos Islands as well:) I am beyond excited for the 3 1/2 weeks of travel I have planned, especially because I will get to experience so many wonderful places, with wonderful people; and continuously be reminded that I'm very blessed to live the life I live!

Talk to ya'll soon,

Ms. Wright

Something beautiful is on the horizon

Hello everyone!:)

With a BIG sigh of relief I can say that I have finished my first semester of senior year and am beyond excited to see what my LAST semester of senior year will have in store for me! It's been a crazy whirlwind of events, emotions, and hard work but I am so blessed for the wonderful people that have been placed in my life as mentors and friends!

SOO, What do I have in store for Christmas break?!?!

1. Reading... for FUN! I haven't read a book just because I wanted to since August, and you can ask anyone- I couldn't put Gone Girl down! If you have any suggestions for books that you can't escape from, let me know!:)

2. DIY Crafts!!! I have been waiting to get crafty and have so many different ideas to change up my room! We will have to see how they actually turn out...

3. Choreography!! I can't wait to lose myself in some new choreography for West dance... They had their first game on Tuesday (12/9) and I am so very proud of them. They have improved so much since August, and I can't wait to see where they end in February.

4. Learning how to play the guitar... My dad started teaching me how to play two years ago but I WILL stick to it this time!

5. Internship events will also be occurring, and I can't wait!!  IF you attend the globetrotters game on Dec. 30th at US Bank arena at 2PM and 7PM, Look for me! I'll be hanging out with the African Penguins and fulfilling my PR duties:p

I am super excited for this break since it'll be the longest academic break I've had in a year+! I hope the holidays and breaks will treat you as well as I hope it treats me, and will check back in soon:)

With love and cheer for all to hear,

-Ms. Wright

Metonia: The journey of changing one's mind, heart, self, or way of life

Hello all!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I know I did! I couldn't have asked for a better few days filled with family time, and seeing friends I haven't seen in awhile. Although I'm itching for winter break, I know I have to finish off this semester with a BANG!

I have so many opportunities to shape my future this week, and I couldn't be more excited! I don't want to jinx myself so I'm not going to say what... BUT, I can share some Fantastic news about next semester!

I have finally enrolled in a capstone that will entail a trip to Ireland this Summer! What could be a better graduation adventure than that?! I can't think of one. I am beyond excited to go to Ireland with a group from my Children Media around the World class, and fulfill one of my long term goals. I'll get to enjoy time in Dublin, along with Belfast; and will get to not only learn about media in Ireland, but take part in some of their cultural activities.

I can't wait to see what other opportunities unfold as I get closer to graduation, but until then; I'm going to continue to go out of my comfort zone and enjoy the journey of changing my mind, heart, self, and my way of life, will you?!

Happy December,

Ms. Wright

#CUTTHECARDUC

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know, I've been working with UCInfluence this semester to create a PR Campaign for Credit Karma. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness about Credit, along with getting the word out that Credit Karma is FREE!!

Our goal for the competition is to show that we were able to get people involved on campus along with all forms of social media. Even if you aren't a student, your click counts! http://www.creditkarma.com/uc is a unique URL to where they can see how many people have viewed it, and how many people have signed up. They cannot see WHO, just HOW MANY! You can follow us on all forms of social media ( @UCInfluence )  to check out the fun we've had while creating the campaign.

This upcoming week is our Credit Awareness week and we will be hosting a few different events:

Monday (11/10/14): 6 PM Twitter Chat
Get on Twitter at 6 PM and ask questions you have about Credit! Representatives from UC Student Health Center along with the members of UCInfluence will be able to answer your questions when you end your tweet with #CutthecardUC

Wednesday and Thursday(11/12/14& 11/13/14) : 11-2 PM Credit Health Fair
Come to the Rec center and get Free popcorn and credit Swag while learning about the advantages of knowing your credit, and how to build it successfully.

SO, what do we get if we win? UCInfluence wins $1,000, and also a trip to San Francisco to present our campaign to Credit Karma.

How can you help?
- Retweet our vines (@UCInflunce)
- Join us for our twitter chat and use #CutthecardUC
-Sign up at http://www.creditkarma.com/uc (IT IS FREE! It DOES NOT ask you for a credit card number)

I would REALLY appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to help out UCInfluence and also yourself by checking out your credit:)

Have a wonderful week!

-Ms. Wright

Thankful.

Hello all!:)

I can't believe it's already November... Time is going way too fast! Before we know it it will be Spring break and I'll be on my way to HAWAII to visit Jessica!!! But anyways, don't let the spirit of the upcoming holidays let you forget about the importance of being THANKFUL.

I've found that when you're going through a rough time, you need to appreciate what you have instead of focusing on what you don't. This has helped me tremendously with finding my individual happiness, and something I'm going to try to make happen on a regular basis!

A few things I'm thankful for are...

1.My family. Even though I don't always feel like having a conversation when they call, they always find a way to motivate me and refocus my attention on what really matters. Dan also ALWAYS brightens my day by sending me pictures of baby Baxter being a goof.
2. My friends. I am so blessed to have such great people in my life who I can literally say, "I'm coming with you tonight" when I don't have any plans, and have someone to text when I say... " I don't want to go by myself, will you come with me?" Without them to drag me out of the house some nights, I would be sitting at home watching Netflix and drinking wine by myself:p
3.Teaching/coaching. Although it's hard work, it is very rewarding. I'm reminded on a daily basis that I influence my girls thoughts, choices, and passions while they help shape my leading abilities. It's not always easy making some of the decisions I have to make, but it helps me realize that you have to pick your battles carefully and sometimes you need to surrender.
4.Starbucks. Without caffeine I couldn't do everything I have to do. Thanks for your daily support;)

I'm thankful for many more things, but these were the most relevant from this past week!

Challenge for you: Contact someone you haven't kept in touch with and let them know you are thinking of them. A few people have done that with me lately, and it put a smile on my face istantly:) Remember that everyone is busy, but relationships are much more valuable than money and materialistic things. Take the time to text a friend instead of a tweet!

Have a wonderful day,

-Ms. Wright

She who is brave is free

Hello!

After the (partial) mental breakdown I had last week due to my two midterms, this week has been AMAZING! Not only because I did well on my midterms, but because I've been working on my personal happiness! WOO HOO!

I'm one of those people who are always putting others first, and I think it's because I liked being busy so I didn't have to sit with my thoughts alone. BUT, that is the wrong way to handle things. SO, 5 things I've made a point to do this week are....

1. Buy myself flowers. You don't need anyone to buy you flowers, and it doesn't have to be for a special occasion. Having flowers just reminds you that some of the most simple things are so beautiful!

2. Say no. Sometimes you have to spend time with yourself that doesn't revolve around homework or anything you consider work. And as we know, getting older means getting busier and having less time to hang out with friends. But sometimes, you need to have that wine night and a movie by yourself.

3. Pamper myself. Take the time to do that 2-minute mask, or that 5 minute hair mask so you look healthier, and shine a little brighter.

4. Turn your phone off. Or just simply on silent. Don't have your phone in your hand at all times, it's really unhealthy. Now a days people think if you don't respond to them in a timely manner than your being rude, when in reality it's not healthy to have constant contact.

5. Listen to music. I've found that it's very hard to wake up in the morning when you have finally found the perfect spot, and heated blankets- BUT, turning on your music will give you the motivation to not fall back to sleep; even if you spend the next 15 minutes checking up on the social media you missed out on when you were catching those zzzz's!

Keep focusing on you; what you want right this second, tomorrow, and in a week. Having short term goals makes the week go by faster, and much more satisfying!

Have a wonderful weekend:)

And she's like "oh my god, I'm just gonna shake it"

Hey yall:)

So... This past weekend I went to OU and got to spend time with one of my best friends since grade school! And I already know I'm lucky since most people can't say they are still in touch with the people they were BFF's with in high school, let alone GRADE school.
Anyways, it was a much needed weekend with great company. I enjoyed every second of it whether we were just cuddling in bed with her cat Lizzy, or jumping in the bands van after the show to go to the next party!

I felt so free.

I need to apply that to my everyday life, and as Claire said "wave my inner freak flag". And by freak flag she means being myself all the time and letting go of my perception of how things should be. I think I'm so caught up with making sure I have a plan for the future, that I'm walking through days doing what I have to do, and not what makes me happy!

So my goal for the rest of this semester is to work on Individual happiness. I will find it, whether it's simple things that bring me joy, or adventures... I WILL BE HAPPY😍

See you on the flip side 😜
